Soulstorm
An early 90's Milwaukee Hardcore scene fixture with straight-edge leanings & appeal. Their predominant influences seemed to vary from west coast, youth crew style ala Insted, to the classic chunky NYC HC sound. However, their sound occasionally dabbled into endearingly sloppy, amateur, funky territory as indicated in "Street Creep Freak." Soulstorm became famous in the Milwaukee Hardcore scene for their prominent "Hit Squad" association and their "Hit Squad Creep Time", shout outs/breakdowns at their live shows, which would always rev up their core fanbase & the early 90's Milwaukee hardcore/straight-edge faction known as "The Hit Squad (1989-1993)."
Jaime Farley has gone on to currently make a living blowing glass art in the Milwaukee area.
Former guitarist Tim Riesig & his brother/former drummer Bill Riesig still currently reside in the Milwaukee area as well.
Line-up:
- Vocals: Jaime Farley
- Bass: Tony Paletti (1989-1991)
- Guitar: Tim Riesig
- Drums: Bill Riesig

- When I first saw/met these guys, James Taylor was playing trumpet for them as well. Tim and his brother and Tony Paletti were also founding members of Codebreaker (who were basically still a hardcore band when they started!) --> http://www.pcmdusa.com/CodeOld
- Indeed, good memory! James Taylor did play trumpet for a bit...forgot about that. I think a character known as "Shimmy" used to sing for them as well? Anyway, yeah playing with the Riesig brothers was an adventure...back when the common glue seemed to be The Bad Brains and Bowie...good guys. best.. -- steven hawley
- Oh I especially remember the Soulstorm tune, "Discouraging Words" with lyrics like, "discouraging words, they never help, most of the time they'll leave you in doubt!" Funny how simple and wholesome some of that stuff was...I remember really digging on that tune when i was like 16/17...pretty endearing material really. A friend of mine forwarded me this link today, fun stuff. Brad, get me that Soulstorm CD. -- steven hawley
- Shimme (AKA Matt Hartwell) was also in X-Society's Puppets, Turbine, Business As Ususal, Ten Boy Summer, and possibly some others... --Pete Prodoehl 10:43, 16 May 2007 (CDT)
