Band History
If you saw 10-96, chances are you didn't forget it. It was like chaos live on stage. They had a repuation for being nuts, just wild, crazy live shows. The music? I don't even remember that well, thrashy, probably sucked, but seeing them play was a sight to behold.
(Dean died of a heart attack on November 1, 1998.)

- I knew the band very well since my family lived above Dean's sister's place. They would practice all the time and we got the "free" show. As I got older, I got to know Dean who was calm as could be until riled up.Then, all hell broke loose....
He was a great friend and a great musician. I was saddened to learn of his passing. There will never be another like him. If anyone has any of the old band cassettes I would love to get a copy...email me at maharet_28658@yahoo.com.
P.S. Motorhead Mike , you are right, Dean chose the name because he always thought of himself as "mentally unstable"
- 10-96 was supposedly radio code for "officer down" which I think explains a 10-96 show pretty well. Chances are if you saw them play, you'd remember it. --Pete Prodoehl 19:41, 17 Aug 2005 (PDT)
- It was actually 10-code for "Escaped Mental Patient". Now THAT really explains 10-96. --Motorhead Mike
- Ahhh, I stand corrected! And yes, it does make much more sense... --Pete Prodoehl 17:26, 24 Sep 2005 (PDT)
- Back in the fall of 1984, 7 Seconds never showed up to headline their show at Irene J's. Our group, NRK, was the opening act. After we performed our set, I remember Dean and a couple guys from some other local bands got up on stage and entertained the crowd using our instruments. In fact, I still have the cassette tape of Dean and the guys performing "Louie Louie". --Peter, NRK
- Always a fun band to see, I was shocked when either Dean or his brother threw quarters at Henry Rollins during one of his spoken word appearances at the Odd Rock. I expected some sort of a fight, but nothing happened. -- Mark
